271 || How to Remain Faithful When God Has You in a Season of Waiting || Eryn Lynum

How do we find opportunities for growth in faith and life?

In last week’s episode, you heard Eryn Lynum discuss a long season of waiting for her dream to become what it is today. When she came on the show five years ago, we discussed her book on the topic of intentional parenting and her search for a publisher despite her small platform. Today’s episode is about the journey of waiting and wondering that God led her through to arrive at a dream she couldn’t have imagined back then.

IF YOU’VE ever wrestled with doubt, THIS IS THE EPISODE FOR YOU!

We know this intellectually: that our difficulties are often an opportunity for growth. We grow when we’re stretched is another way to put it. However, most people don’t actively seek the difficult road or invite the challenge.

The default is to doubt, worry or consider quitting altogether because maybe we’ve chosen the wrong path or heard God incorrectly. But that’s not always the case for every situation. In fact, I’d urge you to consider that doubt, fear and worry are more often closely correlated with pursuing a new endeavor rather than cause for concern that maybe you’ve done something wrong.

In this episode, Eryn shares:

  • How embracing doubts becomes an opportunity for God to reveal His plan,

  •  That waiting is not idle because it allows for growth and strength in preparation for when it's time to act, and

  •  How spending time connecting with God through nature provides a better understanding of both His written Word and His created world.

Are you afraid of being found out as a fraud? Do you ever ask what qualifies you to pursue the dream on your heart? If those questions feel familiar, this next thing is for YOU!

My LIVE-taught Imposter Syndrome course, DREAMERS UNLEASHED is now open for enrollment!

You might have imposter syndrome if you:

worry what people might think about you or your dream

are embarrassed to talk about your dream because you don’t want to appear too focused on yourself

feel shame about NOT pursuing your dream after all these years

are concerned that you’ve already wasted too much time already.

Sound familiar? Then this is the course for you!

We’ll spend seven sessions together over the summer (every other week, Jun – Sept) working through the curriculum so that you can come out on the other side with strength and hope to pursue your dream AND tools in your toolbelt to fight imposter syndrome.

Scripture:

Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are?
~ Matthew 6:26 (NLT)

… put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
~ Ephesians 4:22-24 (ESV)

For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.
~ Romans 1:20 (ESV)

"And when all our enemies heard of it, all the nations around us were afraid and fell greatly in their own esteem, for they perceived that this work had been accomplished with the help of our God."
~ Nehemiah 6:16 (ESV)

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
~ Romans 12:2 (NIV)
