Momentum: Episode #22 - Sarah Conner

Sarah Conner is the Vice President of Programs and HR at HIS BridgeBuilders, a poverty alleviation ministry in Dallas, Texas. She oversees programs that serve hundreds of individuals each year on their path towards self-sufficiency and flourishing. Since 2011, Sarah has also been living her passion of unleashing and equipping women through Polished Dallas. Her story is one of overcoming heartache through faith in God and some great community! She’s a big believer in having lots of good girlfriends, laughter, and a great cheese plate.

IF YOU HAVE EVER BELIEVED THAT NOTHING GOOD COULD COME OUT OF YOUR SUFFERING, THIS IS THE EPISODE FOR YOU.

In our conversation, Sarah shares how, despite 2014 being one of the most difficult years of her life, she never lost hope in God.  With one crushing loss after another, Sarah explains how she can look back now and see God’s hand bringing her through it.

She offers great encouragement for any who are suffering for any reason, and she’s clear on what our call is as followers of Jesus: to live, grieve, and suffer differently because we know Him. While it may seem counter-intuitive, Sarah’s dream is that more women would walk in the power that results from suffering rather than allowing great loss or grief to burn up their lives. If you have experienced any hardship, loss, or discouragement, this is an episode you don’t want to miss.

SCRIPTURE:

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.  For as we share abundantly in Christ's sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too.
~ 2 Corinthians 1:3-5 (ESV)

Three things are never satisfied;
    four never say, “Enough”:
16 Sheol, the barren womb,
    the land never satisfied with water,
    and the fire that never says, “Enough.”

~ Proverbs 30:15b-16 (ESV)

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
~ Romans 12:12 (NIV)
