Momentum: Episode #23 - Hannah Anderson

Six years ago, Hannah Anderson slowly began to cultivate a career as a writer. It was not something she ever anticipated doing, but with young children at home she found herself wondering how she might steward her gifting.

She committed to God that she’d give two years to learning the trade and leave the results in His hands. Today she’s the author of two books: Made for More and the newly released Humble Roots: How Humility Grounds and Nourishes Your Soul (Moody).

IF YOU HAVE EVER FELT LIKE GOD WAS CALLING YOU INTO THE UNKNOWN, THIS IS THE EPISODE FOR YOU.

In our conversation, Hannah shares about walking forward in obedience to pursue something that was never on her radar—writing. Now, as a published author, she senses God calling her to take another step even deeper into the unknown.

We talk about the fear of not knowing how it’s going to turn out and that just because God calls us to something, it doesn’t mean we are guaranteed a specific outcome. She is honest about the challenges she faces in her career, including time management and executing on her ideas. And she provides an important reminder that our dreams are not the end goal—following God is! Her helpful encouragement, based on a favorite section of scripture, reminds us of our limitations and our need to step forward even in our weakness.

Hannah lives in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia with her husband and three children. You can find more of her writing at sometimesalight.com, hear her on the weekly podcast Persuasion, or follow her on Twitter @sometimesalight.

SCRIPTURE:

As you do not know the way the spirit comes to the bones in the womb of a woman with child, so you do not know the work of God who makes everything.
In the morning sow your seed, and at evening withhold not your hand, for you do not know which will prosper, this or that, or whether both alike will be good.
