233 || Practical Lessons from a Business Coach about How to Invest in Your Dream || with Katie Wussow

HAVE YOU COUNTED THE COST OF YOUR DREAM?

This episode is the second of three conversations in my series about the financial side of pursuing a God-shaped dream. Today’s guest and I have made our fair share of mistakes investing in programs, software, or growth strategies that we now wish we hadn’t. So we’re here to help you learn from our mistakes, figure out the right investments to make right now, and even determine whether your dream should take the form of a hobby or a business.

IF YOU’VE QUESTIONED WHICH INVESTMENTS TO MAKE IN YOUR DREAM, THIS IS THE EPISODE FOR YOU!

Listeners have shared with me that money often feels like a major barrier to launching a God-shaped dream. There are some legitimate reasons that might be the case for you:

  • Maybe you already have a job with an income that’s necessary for your monthly personal expenses. If you quit that job to pursue this dream, you’d better have your ducks in a row first. Money doesn’t grow on trees!

  • Or, you don’t have a job or income right now. Maybe you’ve been staying at home with kids or going to school and recently graduated. Whatever the reason, there’s some financial pressure you’re already feeling.

  • Or, you have a pretty good idea that there’s going to be some significant expenses on the front end of your dream—maybe you have an idea to create an app or software, or maybe you’ve created a new physical product to sell. Whatever it is, there’s a financial outlay before you can really start.

This week my guest is Business Coach Katie Wussow, who shared her dreamer story back in episode 167. In this episode, we’re talking about making wise investments in your dream, whether it’s a passion project, hobby, or a business. Thankfully, Katie brings her levelheadedness and practicality to the conversation.

Here are a few highlights you don't want to miss:

  • The mistake of spending money to solve a problem you don't yet fully understand,

  • Making a realistic assessment of the costs involved in saying yes to a dream, and

  • The difference between an investment in your dream and an expense it requires.
