In between caring for her three kids and advocating simplicity, she also writes about simple faith and life on her personal blog BeginnerBeans.com. There she shares from her messy beginnings to uncover beauty in the process and joy in the simple. She and her family live in Nebraska where Trina aims to live her “real life” first and then make her online updates an echo of that.
IF YOU HAVE SOME OF THOSE “MAYBE SOMEDAY” DREAMS, THIS IS THE EPISODE FOR YOU.
In our conversation Trina talks about her new eBook and website, Simplifying Home, which provides non-judgmental tips you can use right now to simplify your life and home, one step at a time. A self-described “reluctant simplifier,” she discusses the ongoing process of simplifying in order to make room for more meaningful things like deep connections with others.
Trina also shares what it looks like to take baby steps towards her dreams during this season of mothering young children, how she is learning to be okay with baby steps, and why just taking the next right step can sometimes be all we need when we get discouraged.
At the tail-end of a social media fast, Trina talks about how she’s handling the “fear of missing out” and what she’s learned from taking a 30-day break from Instagram and Facebook.
He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart;
yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.
- Ecclesiastes 3:11 (NIV)
