Momentum: Episode #11 - Amy Knuver

Amy Knuver’s passion for people led her to pursue a degree in elementary education and inspired her interest in teaching overseas. Now, a recent college graduate, she is on her way to Togo in West Africa where she will finally have her own classroom, teaching second grade missionary kids. In the midst of this adventure and all of the unknowns ahead, she is striving to love unconditionally, laugh uncontrollably, and live unrestrained. Amy says she feels most alive when she is meeting others where they are and offering them the hope that can only be found in Christ.

IF YOU HAVE EVER BELIEVED THAT YOUR FLAWS DISQUALIFied YOU FROM MINISTRY, THIS IS THE EPISODE FOR YOU.

In our conversation, Amy talks about her dream to become an elementary school teacher and how, combined with an interest in traveling overseas, God has brought that dream to fruition. She also reveals her long-time battle with depression and anxiety and how that struggle nearly kept her from pursuing this dream. She’s vulnerable and honest about feeling unqualified for ministry and shares how God met her in the midst of those feelings.

Amy would love our prayers while she follows God into the unknown and ministers to students who are a long way from home. She also shares a favorite scripture and how it has inspired her along the way.

AMY’S RECOMMENDATIONS:

SCRIPTURE:

The LORD who rescued me from the claws of the lion and the bear will rescue me from this Philistine!" Saul finally consented. "All right, go ahead," he said. "And may the LORD be with you!"
- 1 Samuel 17:37 (NLT)

But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation. I will sing the Lord’s praise, for he has been good to me.
- Psalm 13:5-6 (NIV)

You parents—if your children ask for a loaf of bread, do you give them a stone instead? Or if they ask for a fish, do you give them a snake? Of course not! So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him.
- Matthew 7:9-11 (NLT)
